BRWIGA CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP ELIGIBLITY REQUIREMENTS

DOESN'T INCLUDE SCRAMBLE - DAY 2

Guidelines for the BRWIGA Championship Tournament

These guidelines supplement the BRWIGA Constitution and Bylaws and any seeming contradiction should be decided in favor of the wording in the BRWIGA Constitution and/or Bylaws. These guidelines may be amended by simple majority vote of the Board of Directors in accordance with Article VI, Subsection 1(B) of the Constitution.

 General Provisions:

 1. The Championship Tournament will be held in the fall, preferably in October, at a course determined by the BRWIGA President and approved by the Board of Directors.

 2. A Tournament Committee and chair are appointed by the President and the composition and responsibilities of the committee are at the discretion of the President.

 3. The Tournament Committee maintains a Tournament Chair Handbook, consisting of format guidelines and any committee appointments lists necessary to the tournament. The book is turned over to the incoming tournament chair by the first meeting of the Board of each year.

 4. The Championship Tournament will be a two-day event, preferably with a day between the two days of play, with a shotgun start each day.

 Entry Procedures:

 1. A player must be at least 18 years old when the tournament begins. She must have been a member in good standing of BRWIGA for at least three (3) months. If questions arise, the Board of Directors has final approval on entries.

2. Information and entry forms will be distributed to the Associate Clubs Representatives and to the Social Media Coordinator no less than four (4) weeks prior to the tournament.

 3. Entry deadlines will be set by the Tournament Committee.

 Flights and Pairings:

 1. The Championship Tournament is a stroke-play event.

 2. The players will be pre-flighted by handicap by a designated date determined by the Tournament Committee.

 3. Although preferable, it is not necessary to have the same number of players in each flight; rather, the Tournament Committee should find logical separation points for the flights based on the players’ handicaps.

 4. First day pairings will be based on most recent handicap. Second day pairings will be based on gross scores of previous day in the same flight.

 Awards:

 1. Awards based on first-day performance:

 a)  Most Accurate Drive

 b) Closest to the Pin on two holes

 c) Fewest Putts

 2. Awards for total two-day performance:

 a) BRWIGA Tournament Champion

 b) BRWIGA Tournament Low Net Champion

 c) Flight winners: First Place gross in EACH flight. Additional gross places in a flight may also be awarded by the Tournament Committee if the committee determines the number of players in that flight is sufficient to warrant making the additional awards.

 3. A player is not limited as to the number of first-day performance awards she can win, but a player can win only one total two-day performance award.

 4. The Annice Loyd Leet Sportsmanship Award will be presented at the Championship Tournament Awards Ceremony.

 Finances:

 1. The entry fee charged to each player for the tournament should only cover golf fees for the tournament days of play and lunch costs. Checks from players should be made out to the host and not to the BRWIGA.

 2. The Tournament Committee should confirm with the Treasurer the amount available in the BRWIGA budget for awards. Generally, the total amount available should be about $575.  The following is a guideline and estimate of award costs:

 a) $20 Total or $5.00 each for four awards for Most Accurate Drive (1), Closest to the Pin (2) and Fewest Putts (1).

 b) $525 for cash/gift certificates for Champions and Flight awards.

 c) $30 for the Annice Loyd Leet Award.

 3. Payment for awards is made from the BRWIGA account (either by advance payment or reimbursement).

4. The Tournament Committee shall engrave the names of the BRWIGA Tournament Champion on the permanent award held at the Champion’s home course or in the BRWIGA trophy case at the Westdale Ladies Golf Association clubhouse; the expense of this engraving is paid from the BRWIGA account.

 Ties:

 1. BRWIGA Tournament Champion: Ties will be broken by sudden death starting at hole #1.

 2. Ties for any other award will be broken per USGA recommendations and the process should be noted on the rules sheet the first day of the tournament:

 a) the winner will be determined based on best score for last nine holes (#10—#18), last six holes (#13—#18), last three holes (#16—#18) and then the 18th hole;

 b) for net awards, handicaps will be pro-rated and subtracted from those scores—at 1/2, 1/3, 1/6 and 1/18 of handicap respectively and fractions are not to be disregarded;

 c) if still tied, the same process is repeated for the first nine holes; and

 d) this method shall be used regardless of what tee the player started on.

Additional Notes:

 1. Caddies are not allowed.

 2. Non-participants are allowed on the course but they should not have personal contact with players nor interfere with the play of golf.

 3. In case of inclement weather, a stroke play tournament can be shortened; this decision will be made by the Tournament Committee.

 4. The decisions of the Tournament Committee will be final.

 5. None of these guidelines may be changed by the host club golf professional.
